Isn't it like a *huge* no-no to share (MUA & MTA) an mbox file across an NFS link???? http://www.seaglass.com/postfix/faq.html#mbmd "One critical point is that if your mail store is mounted over NFS, don't use mbox. ... but might be susceptible to file locking problems when multiple programs need access to the mail file.
