I have a similar problem. I suspect it has to do with MIME types. My phone system at work sends me email with a wav file when I receive a voicemail. These messages display in Evo with an attachment of type "audio/wav attachment (voice_msg_12345.wav)". Evo gives me two options: Save As, and Open in XMMS. XMMS can't play files of this type.
Now, if I send myself an email from Evolution and attach this wav file, the resulting message contains an attachment of type "WAV audio attachment (voice_msg_12345.wav)". The options here are different! I get four options: Save As, Open in vmplay, Open in Totem, Open in XMMS. I see those options because I used Nautilus to associate different applications with a saved voicemail file. (Right click on the file in Nautilus, select "Properties", tab "Open With", "Add".) If I look at the email source, I see that the first message's attachment has a MIME type of audio/wav, while the second message's attachment is of type audio/x-wav. So my question is, how do I tell Evolution that I want to use a different app to play files of type "audio/wav"? Could this MIME type problem also be causing the differences other people are seeing with different apps being available for different attachments? --Tessa -- Tessa Lau, PhD http://tlau.org/ _______________________________________________ evolution maillist - [email protected] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution
