The only workaround is the one you've discovered - to change folders.
There is another notification applet, using d-bus which can be used to find out about new mails. Its been posted to the evolution-patches list at least.

I use Evolution with an IMAP account. There is one small annoyance: whenever I download new messages from the IMAP server and read them, it seems Evolution does not let the server know that the e-mails have been downloaded and read. The new mail applet in the GNOME panel keeps spinning happily telling me I have new messages. If I switch to another folder and then return to my Inbox in Evolution, it does appear to update the status on the server. Is there a setting I can change or some workaround so the status is updated without changing folders? This is Evolution 2.2.2 on Debian unstable. Thanks, Martijn (Resending this after subscribing to the list. It seems the message did not reach the list before.) _______________________________________________ evolution maillist - [email protected] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution
