The person who encounters these problems has copied the ~/evolution tree
only. According to your message this is bad, isn't it?

What do you mean with "intact"? The old /home is still there (on another
partition), so we are able to copy other directories/files needed. Could
you please give us a hint what other directories have to be copied in
order to have an intact directory structure Evolution could convert?
