I must say that I quite agree with your contrary self; the new icon is
simple and elegant, and I for one don't mind being reminded that Ximian
is almost wholly responsible for this lovely piece of software :)

With the 2001.11.07.16.47 snap I don't have the odd hodgepodge icon that
some people have mentioned. Hmmmmm... wait, I do... it's in my menu! I
just never use the menu that's all, Evolution is a launcher applet on my
panel and that icon is just an envelope in a gold Ximian badge.

Oh man, the file that it points to is that new hodgepodge icon, and man
is it UGLY (and illegible). I haven't restarted my machine in over a
week, but I know when I do I'm going to lose this nice icon on my panel,
which is apparently just loaded in RAM and no longer exists on the disk!
=( I guess I will switch to the stock gnome-envelope.png icon when that
happens... unless someone has the envelope-only ximian logo that they'd
care to attach to a message so I can have it again :) Please?

Personally, I always appreciate applications that have at least 2 or 3
icons that you can choose from to suit your taste... even if one is
default and 95% of the users will never know the other ones are even
there.
