Well, in some mailers, if there is only one completion than that
completion is inserted immediately, without the user needing
to hit an additional key (like TAB).  The, as long as additional
keystrokes match the completion selection, the completion stays
in the address field.  As soon as a character no longer matches
that one completion, the characters following the current 
cursor position are then cleared.
