The problem is that in order to lock a mailbox, the program that does it
must have write access to that directory.

Evolution uses an external setgid program to do it called
camel-lock-helper which should be located in /usr/sbin/ or whatever your
distro would put it.

anyways, make sure it is setgid, if not: chmod 2755
/usr/sbin/camel-lock-helper
