First, it needs a "@" in it, second, you need <>s around it in the
Content-ID header. (so, '<img src="cid:something@something";>' and
'Content-Id: <something@something>')

"any" other mailclient? Have you tried *all* of them?

Standards exist for a reason. If you're not going to stick to them, you
can't expect things to work reliably across a wide range of
implementations.
