I'm experiencing a different, though related, issue with this. I connect to my box from work via pine, but often leave Evolution running at the same time (both connected to Courier imapd, all on the same box).. I often move/delete/expunge messages via pine, and when I get home, I find that evolution notes many of the deletes, but rarely sees the expunges. if I hit F9 to download the folder data again, it doesn't do anything (or occasionally it give me an error - haven't gotten one recently so I couldn't tell you what it is). Fixing this usually requires quitting/restarting Evolution.
