That seemed to do the trick nicely. Thanks! I had seen the large .ibex files, but didn't want to just delete them directly because I didn't know what they were for. I had one .ibex file that was 22 megabytes, for an empty mailbox. Maybe a nice addition to evolution would be to rebuild the index when one empties the trash or expunges. Maybe I can submit a patch sometime :-) For the most part, I think it should work for me not to have most of my mailboxes indexed. So I just disabled the indexing in almost all of my mailboxes, except the one for mail directly addressed to me (thus not mailing list mail). Doing that freed 150 megabytes out of the ~250 MB evolution had previously been using. Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.
