UGh... sorry, pacific bell's email system has completely collapsed and is bouncing emails like mad now. I missed all replies to this thread from the last few days :(
I did a test of evolution this weekend (1.0.8.99) and moved the ~/evolution directory elsewhere (so evolution could not see it at all). Then I re-ran evolution. With no ~/evolution around, it STILL correctly found my account settings. (And it created a new ~/evolution, which was expected.) I looked at the strace output but it opens a MILLION files and I wish I could see where it is looking and getting my account settings when there isn't even an ~/evolution directory to look for them in...
