Hi, I bought a Palm m500 this morning and I'm trying to set it up (with the USB cradle) so I can sync it with Evo (1.2) on RH7.3.
As the Evo manual says I opened the Gnome-Control Panel and started the configuration wizard (Peripherals > Pilot link) but when I get to the step where I have to press the hotSync button on my PDA the PDA reports after a while that the sync failed. I have been reading several archives and other resources on the web and I found that ther has to be a symlink to /dev/pilot. At the moment there is no such file in /dev, should the wizard create this link or do I have to add it manually? ( If so: before or during the wizard?) I have to USB ports, one is used by my printer so I suppose I should create this link with either: ln /dev/ttyUSB0 /dev/pilot or ln /dev/ttyUSB1 /dev/pilot Right? What would happen if I choose the wrong port? Could this affect my printer in any way? Do I need to run this wizard as root?
