Well, I submitted that bug on evolution hanging on modem disconnects:

It got immediately closed because evolution is hanging in some mozilla
library and there is "nothing we can do about it."

So, we now know that the hanging problem is neither Linux, UW IMAP, or
TCP, but is actually mozilla -- yet mozilla IMAP on Linux does not hang
when a modem is disconnected.

I don't suppose it's possible that the library is not being used
correctly...
