They must have Oil & Gas experiene. *Job Description:* The Senior Applications Developer is responsible for managing specific projects and technical initiatives in an efficient/effective manner. The Senior Applications Developer must possess a high degree of technical knowledge regarding software development, associated technology tools, data structures and the AS/400 environment using RPG ILE, SQL/400, IBM Operations Navigator, Websphere,Query/400, CA/400, FTP, TCP/IP, Windows, and Microsoft Office products. This position contributes to the Applications team primarily in a technical manner. However, the Senior Applications Developer may be assigned the lead role of a temporary sub-team which is focused on a specific project. In these cases, the position must behave both as a technical leader as well as a supervisor until the task-organized project is complete. The Senior must know and work toward the relevant IT policies & procedures, the pertinent set of software development tools, as well as the organizational vision that includes application development that occurs at the enterprise level. The Senior Applications Developer is expected to be able to code as necessary, perform detailed analysis on data structures, data integration, and existing and new applications systems. The Senior Applications Developer is expected to be an effective resource manager in terms of personnel, hardware, software and budget that pertain to specifically assigned software applications and projects. These skills also include competent estimating of tasks and projects which can be expressed in terms of hours and time lines with expressed due dates. *Essential Functions/Principal Accountabilities: * - Provide application development, enhancements, modifications, performance tuning, training and support services for assigned projects. - Work with IS technical resources to provide high availability monitoring and maintenance for assigned applications. - Understand a given software project "end-to-end" specifically beginning with Business Requirements, then the appropriate Data Architecture and corresponding User Interface (UI), and culminating with finished information products such as Web Viewers, Reports, Data Entry Applications, Interfaces to Other Systems, Graphical Outputs or Data Marts. - Interact with users in variuous departments to prepare specifications for new applications, enhancements, modifications, and support issues. Also, prepare training materials and application documentation. - Organize a technical project (ranging from 40 - 1000 hours in size) in its entirety and articulate the project as a logical sequence of executable tasks. - Prepare formal project plans as needed illustrating tasks, task sequence, task dependencies, estimated effort per task, due dates and responsible parties. - Identify a projects Critical Path (PERT Diagram) and note associated risk points. - Understand the overall data integration strategy in both its current state, as well as planned future state. - Develop and supervise the proper execution of test plans for assigned projects, and coordinate end-user participation and sign-off of same. Provide SOX documentation as required. - Know, practice and enforce the relevant IT policies and procedures. - Actively pursue periodic developments with peer group to stay informed and contribute to other software projects occurring - Maintain an awareness and an updated status of projects that fall within span of responsibility - Work closely with IT management to ensure project approaches, auditing, processes, adherence to development standards - Develop and maintain a close relationship with the IT technical staff members to properly utilize personnel in delivering information systems that support business requirements. - Manage and deploy resources, in accordance with, service level agreements, for all assigned areas of application responsibilities. - Develop and support data models and a data dictionary that supports the business requirements for tactical and strategic information products. - Monitor and control the integrity of the data standards and application interfaces. - Perform employee evaluations, counseling and evaluation of overall department progress when requested. - Conduct periodic follow-up calls with clients that permit communication opportunities to attain feedback.
