Please send qualified resumes to Sanjay at [email protected] Position: Senior SQL Server DBA Location: MA Rate: Market Duration: 5+ Months (Strong possibility of extension) Phone Screen then probable in person interview Have an immediate need for a SQL Server DBA with strong communication skills and the ability to anticipate problems before they happen. Would like someone who can interview and start work next week. Primary areas of experience include: Monitoring, Backup / Recovery of server issues, Upgrades and Troubleshooting Senior SQL Database Administrator to provide on-site technical support for a variety of Microsoft SQL Database Server Applications (2008, 2005, 2008). The proposed SQL Database support specialist will provide support for the services described below. Support shall include, but not be limited to, the following: Ensuring database availability, adds, moves, changes, maintenance release and upgrade installations, backup and recovery configuration, database configuration changes, administrator level maintenance and high level problem resolution and performing other projects and tasks as deemed necessary. In addition, the following types of services are required: · Tune each database for maximum performance · Prevent any out-for-space issues for any database object. · Develop and implement a daily backup strategy for each database if a backup strategy does not already exist. · Monitor the backups and resolve any backup issues · Develop a restoration strategy for each database. · Restore databases or parts of databases as required or as required to resolve pending issues. · Monitor the database software vendor for any critical patches, security patches or required upgrades that the database software vendor is releasing. Apply the patches in the database software vendor’s timeframe or client’s requested timeframe. · Upgrade or patch each database as requested. · Upgrade the database software as necessary so the databases are always running on a database software vendor-supported version. · Be available when needed by client to attend conferences (either by phone or in person) to discuss database related issues. · Respond to and begin resolving all database-related issues within the database’s importance-designation timeframe. · Provide client with written notification of any database related changes. · Speak with a client representative prior to making any scheduled database related changes. · Maintain a log of any database changes that contains minimally the following: system name, change type, change description, change date, person making the change, and how changed was tested prior to production implementation. · Resolve any database-related problems that affect the database’s availability, usability, and accuracy. · Provide client with a weekly status report for each database that will include such items as: space usage, growth trends, resource bottlenecks (current and potential), up-time percentage, performance analysis, outages, outage cause, outage time span, and action taken to resolve outage. · Provide client with a monthly report of upgrades, patches or any other type of database maintenance needing to be performed to each database, a description of the maintenance to be performed, and a timeline of when the work will be started and completed.
