Responsibilities:

.         Manages the project activities for time and cost estimates,
development and / or implementation of new systems, creation of detailed and
accurate project descriptions and functional and technical specifications.

.         Formulates project scope and objective statement.  Identifies the
approach through developing and managing a project plan to ensure completion
of the project on time and within budget.  Manages resources for the
project, including utilization of team reformulate project scope and
objective statement. 

.         Determines and evaluates risks that may affect the project and
implements a risk mitigation strategy.  Conducts periodic project risk
assessments and takes appropriate action to address the risks.

.         Creates quality management plans; oversees project design to
ensure compliance with federal and state laws, and university's criteria,
codes, and regulations.  

.         Documents all aspects of project development and keeps team
informed of overall progress.   Reports status, progress and issues.
Assures that the appropriate communication and coordination takes place with
all areas.

.         Reviews requests and recommends changes from original
specifications with project sponsor, project team, or stakeholders.  Reviews
progress and status of all projects and identifies specific activities to be
performed to ensure project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks are
completed according to project deadline.

 

Skills Needed:

.         A bachelors or masters degree in a technical or management area.
Experience in managing.  Experience in managing staff, project planning and
implementation, application design and providing technical expertise.
Experience in determining time/cost estimates.  Project Management
Certification.

.         Effective Communication Skills (written and oral), Adaptability,
Flexibility, Self-motivation, Problem Solving, Analytical Thinking, Time
Management, Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment     

.         Ability to plan a large complex undertaking and effectively focus
the efforts of a group to execute the plan.  Ability to effectively
communicate with large or small groups of people through written or spoken
communication.  Ability to negotiate and manage change.  Ability to identify
training needs for staff and assign staff to projects based on need.  Good
motivational skills and decisive actions.  Ability to lead a team by setting
good examples.  Ability to encourage others to generate new ideas.
Knowledge of hardware and software programs.  Must be able to assist in
determining software and hardware requirements.  Technical expertise in
planning.

.         Required Education:  A bachelors degree and experience in managing
large projects with moderate complexity and risk.
