*Title: SAS Programmer (with some Java exp)*

NOTE: Must have SAS programming, JSP and web development.



*SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*



Ability to make modifications in the National Violent Death Reporting
System (NVDRS) WISQARS public data access system. (i.e., a web based system
where the public can interactively access descriptive information). Changes
include, but are not limited to, adding or deleting variables, changing
search functionality, and refactoring existing code

Provide advanced level SAS programming and intermediate level Microsoft SQL
to prepare data used in NVDRS WISQARS. This includes the ability to run
data quality checks, expertise in database management, and experience with
advanced SAS programming, including using SAS macros;

Develop in-depth knowledge and expertise related to the National Violent
Death Reporting System (NVDRS) and other data systems and surveys
maintained at Client.

Support various surveillance projects related to data management, quality
assurance and analysis.

Contribute to the documentation and maintenance of data in compliance with
all Federal regulations related to information security.

Other Duties as Assigned.



*EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:*



At least 3 years’ experience in SAS programming

Proven expertise using JSP to create or modify a web program that
interactively displays data to users;

Proven experience providing advanced level SAS programming such as SAS
Macros and Microsoft SQL to manipulate very large complex relational
database files for a variety of high-level programming and database
management tasks.

Broad in-depth knowledge of the electronic data processing field, with
emphasis in the areas of cleaning, design, and programming.

Expert technical knowledge of fourth generation programming language,
database management system, and software programming tools used in the CDC
environment, interfacing and interconnectivity of applications and
databases.

Understanding of data standardization policies and standards sufficient to
develop data dictionaries, data models, metadata repositories, and other
data management tools.

Experience with creating and maintaining large SAS analysis files, with
associated format libraries, codebooks, and computer program/file
documentation, generated from surveillance system and surveys database.



*REQUIREMENTS:*



Ability to pass any background, drug, and security checks as required by
the Company and worksite.

Ability to work additional hours to include weekends and/or holidays as may
occasionally be requested.

Ability to meet attendance and punctuality requirements of the Company and
worksite.

Ability to provide excellence in customer service.

Bachelor degree in Computer Science, preferred.

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and
willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous
projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work
skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet
deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of
adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding
environment.
