Primary duties involve installation, configuration, administration and support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (RHEL) versions 5.x and 6.x and to a lesser degree additional Linux distributions such as SUSE Linux Enterprise Server servers. Linux instances are installed as VMware vSphere hosted virtual machines or as bare metal installation on Intel based physical hardware. . Linux administration includes regular patching of Linux software and other enterprise supporting components. VMware vCenter is used to perform virtual machine cloning, snapshots and vMotion. Access permissions are delegated for users with sudo and ACL file permissions. Administration duties include shell scripting, yum installations and SSL certificate installations. . Problem resolution, debugging, monitoring and tuning are required and include tools such as SAR, nmon, collectd, netstat, Wireshark, Tivoli and syslog. . Duties require extensive network knowledge and experience for firewalled N-Tier based Data Center network segments. Linux servers are configured with multiple separate network interface cards for Production, Admin, Backup and Data LAN segments. Duties require network knowledge to design, install, configure and support Linux servers to function with hardware based load balancers such as Cisco GSS, Cisco CSS and Cisco ACE to provide highly available (HA) services using virtual IPs (VIP). Duties include configuration and support of servers using network VPNs, IPsec, tunnels, VLANs, TCP and UDP IP ports. Additionally DNS, NTP, NFS, X Window and ssh are used. . Servers are hosted for state government customers in multiple 24x7 Data Centers. Candidates will routinely interact with customers and work in project groups on large highly visible projects and will be the primary single point of contact with customers, other support teams and vendors. Off hours 24x7 support is required. ServiceNow IT Services is used for incident management, change management and service catalog management. . Duties require binary installation and support for customer applications involving software such as Apache, MySQL, PHP, Java, JBoss, Webshere, MQ, Oracle database, Drupal, FileNet, Siteminder, LDAP, Reverse Proxy, FTP, Forum Sentry and SOA. Customers are responsible for application specific configurations although duties include heavy customer support as needed. . Install, configure and support systems multipath connected to SAN attached storage via Fiber Channel and Data Network Ethernet connected to iSCSI, NFS and Centera storage. Backup and restore operations use Tivoli TSM, CommVault and TBMR for Bare Metal Restoration for TSM. Skills Needed 84+ months installing, configuring, upgrading and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers in an enterprise Data Center environment. 84+ months benchmarking, performance monitoring, debugging and tuning Linux systems for distributed projects deployed as multiple server instances. 84+ months networking experience integrating, supporting and troubleshooting Linux systems in N-Tier firewalled, load balanced Data Center networks. 60+ months installing, optimizing and supporting Web related software applications on Linux servers. 60+ months installing, configuring, profiling, upgrading and supporting Linux servers running as VMware vSphere/ESX virtual machines. 60+ months of IT Service Management (project, service catalog, change and incident management) interaction with customers, other support teams and vendors on projects supporting 24x7 systems.
