Phone/skype Hire Location: Richmond, VA Duration: 6+ months Rate: Open Client is looking for a strong python developer with proven experience in implementing and customizing a python based open source data catalog for embedding within a Wordpress website. The current technology infrastructure is based on Python, PHP, Linux specific task(s): . Deploy and customize a ckan data catalog utilizing open source software. customize existing wordpress web application themes, template files, and web components based on mockups, wireframes, and functional specifications. . Configure aws based linux vms to run ckan and wordpress websites. . Responsible for analyzing assigned tasks, providing accurate work estimates and progress reports, and keeping development on schedule. . Conduct performance testing and evaluate layout issues across multiple browsers and device platforms. . Collaborate with other back-end developers, web designers, project managers, and end users. Skills Needed: Experience in custom web application development including proficiency in PHP, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, JSON, Python. Required 5 Years Operational experience with Linux,NginX or Apache, MySQL, Postgres Required 5 Years Experience evaluating, selecting and integrating third-party data visualization plugins for WordPress. Required 2 Years Exp developing with WordPress including sound knowledge of theme customization and integrating open source and third party plugins and widgets Required 3 Years Experience deploying and managing Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing products including EC2 server management and S3 storage. Required 2 Years Experience implementing/supporting a data cataloging tool (CKAN open source tool used by data.gov) Required 2 Years Exp supporting data governance policies/procs for open data sources and protected data- producing/distributing open data and HIPAA-protected datasets Desired 2 Years Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. Desired 2 Years Experience enhancing the performance of high-traffic sites and deploying web analytics. Desired 3 Years Familiarity with web security issues and deploying WordPress security plugins.
