PlanoTX 6 MONTHS hourly rate ; $50/hr on c2c What are the three to five primary responsibilities of the position: Cognos development Framework manager SQL analysis/query development Description/Comment: Works as a team member on engagements and may take the lead on very small projects with well defined parameters. Makes decisions on operating procedures, analytical approaches, and work-flow. Works in a collaborative effort with others to conceptualize the implementation phases of the total systems solutions. May establish parameters for configuration, testing, and debugging. Provides hardware/ software/process consulting services to customers including identifying needs, developing, influencing, and implementing proposals. Writes appropriate and accurate documentation for deliverables of projects, engagements, white papers, and marketing documentation. 8-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Customer facing experience. Broad understanding of systems integration practices. Undergraduate degree and 4-6 years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 2-4 years relevant experience. Additional Job Details: The function of the Cognos Developer is to execute all aspects of design, development and unit testing, as well as bridge communications between the development teams on and offshore in support of the business intelligence projects and initiatives. This will include distribution of the solution, especially those utilizing the Cognos tool and other related data analytic tool set(s), as required. This position will interface with the business customer, the project delivery team, the operations/support teams and the IT/IS organizations. Required skills: 8+ years experience developing reports in Cognos 8,9 or 10 5+ years experience or equivalent in SQL Query Development (SQL – not procedures, Netezza desired but not required) 5+ years experience or equivalent successfully working in a team environment 3+ years experience or equivalent troubleshooting reporting issues with performance or data-related matters 3+ years experience or equivalent Cognos application support 3+ years experience in an unsupervised role requiring initiative, taking ownership of issues, being punctual and dependable/reliable Good written/verbal communication skills Physical Characteristics: Able to work in an office environment, work evenings or weekends as needed. Mental Characteristics: Must be able to exercise appropriate judgment when assessing the needs of the client and determine the resolution best suited for the situation. Requires a high level of initiative and independence. Handle concurrent or multiple tasks/projects efficiently. Needs to be organized and detail oriented with a high level of accuracy. Must be a quick learner, a problem solver, and have the ability to understand the big-picture business ramifications of technical challenges and issues.
