I haven't done any research on this; I will give u simple idea about. I don't have perfect understanding (but I can say, there are 2 arguments that form one entity here-"come under single bracket". Broadly that might be the reason we use the (--) like this. sorry not now when I am free I will give u little more explanation. I think the experts already now they will help u meanwhile.
