Morning!

I'm often faced with the following problem (simplified here): I have data
in the following cells of a spreadsheet:

A1, B2, A3, B4, A5, B6

and would like to copy column A a paste it into B so that there are no
gaps, basically turning the two colums showing zigzag data into one. Of
coures just copying A and pasting over B wouldn't work because it would
overwrite the data in column B with blanks from A. Is there a way to just
select data fields (ignoring blank cells), copy them and only paste the
selected fields to a different location?

The current solution I use is the merge both colums in a third one like
putting the following into cell C1: =A1&B1 and then copy that all the way
down. While that works, I'm still wondering if one can select just cells
containing data in a column or row, not the entire column or row. Hope this
makes sense.
