"Don't post questions regarding breaking or bypassing any security measure."

The problem is, there is no way for any of us to know if YOU actually own the
file and are really the one that forgot the password.  Not that we're accusing
you of lying, but how do we know?

Let's say you've spent hundreds of hours developing an application.
You've shared it, but password protected your work so that others don't use it
and claim it as their own.

Then someone takes it and posts it on this forum, asking for help breaking the
password because they claim to have "forgotten" it.

(many years ago, I actually had someone post one of my files, asking for help
breaking the password. The fact is, if he'd have simply ASKED me, I'd have
given him the code, but he forgot who he got the file from and chose to claim
it as his own in order to get someone to break it for him.)

If we do, can the rightful owners sue US, or the Group Owners for assisting in
stealing intellectual property?
----------
For that reason, members of this group are asked not to use this group to
participate in breaking password protection.

That said: If you simply Google "Excel password recovery" you'll get several
sites that should have something that can assist you.
