Are you looking for a workseet function or VBA solution? If you need a worksheet function, I used this logic: A1 = "Being amt. of claim incentive for CE of Apr-14 claim receivable from TDL." in a cell named "AmtofClaim" I used the formula: =FIND("amt. of claim",A1) + 14 (14 is the length of "amt. of claim") in a cell named "ClaimRecv" I used: =FIND(" claim receivable",A1) (note the leading space in " claim receivable" gives the position of this space)
So, the formula to extract the string from after "amt. of claim" to "claim receivable" is: =MID(A1,AmtofClaim,ClaimRecv-AmtofClaim) inserting the two FIND() formulas into this formula gives: =MID(A1,FIND("amt. of claim",A1)+14,FIND(" claim receivable",A1)-(FIND("amt. of claim",A1)+14)) if you're looking for a vba solution, the technique is similar, but you use Substr() instead of Find() hope this helps, Paul ----------------------------------------- “Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.” - John Wesley ----------------------------------------- From: Ashish Bhalara <ashishbhalar...@gmail.com> >To: "excel-macros@googlegroups com" <excel-macros@googlegroups.com> >Sent: Friday, May 2, 2014 2:51 AM >Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ Need help in Mid function > > > >Dear experts, > > >I need the middle value between two particular word as per below sentence. > > >Sentence:Being amt. of claim incentive for CE of Apr-14 claim receivable from >TDL. > > >Output of function should be "incentive for CE of Apr-14" > > >The two particular word is "amt. of" & "claim receivable" > > >Thanks & regards. >Ashish Bhalara >9624111822 >PPlease do not print this email unless it is absolutely necessary.
