I add a vote for MESSAGEmanager ( www.syssol.com.au ) !!!!
Based on the thread it excels in the following areas
1. Runs a simple connector on exchange
2. requires a PC (brooktrout card) Can install the common applications on server so
you just email theose attachments to the mmfax: email type
3. account logs can be read by access (just a dbase file)

Another couple to look at are.....
Rightfax ( www.rightfax.com ) and
MESSAGEmanager ( www.syssol.com.au )
Both provide reasonable functionality and are easy to manage.
