Not quite true, John. Mobile Information Server (MIS) can be used with Exchange 2000 and includes the Server ActiveSync stuff. It's a separate product. http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/evaluation/previous/miserver/ What John Q Jr. was referring to is what you also alluded to in your initial e-mail. Mobile Information server has pretty much been integrated with Exchange 2003. However, in your case, since you are still running Exchange 2000, you would have to purchase Mobile Information Server.
