How many transaction log files do you have?

There is a way to chop them all off and just go based on the information
that is in the database files. But you will lose some information that only
exists in the recent logs and has not been commited to the database.

Also you can use the eseutil /MH to see which logs have been commited and
what log is required.

To find out more about /MH, /ML, and /MK switches, check this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;KO;296843

The article also covers scenarios like "Recovering by Removing All
Transaction Log Files" and "Recovering Without Removing All Transaction Log
Files".

I'm not running the scanner against exchange... it turns out that one of the
owners here has been hard rebooting the machine every morning because 'he
knows it needed it.' All I can surmise is that the hard reboot happened to
coincide with the log being rolled over and therefore lost (the log required
was 1d37 which was never written.)
