Well, heck. It should be there :)
I know you already ran the DS/IS Consistency Adjuster, but did you make sure
you had checked the Public Info Store as well as "All inconsistencies" ?

1. I made a mistake in stating that the only difference between the servers
was their names. The server I restored to is W2K rather than NT4. So, as a
result the IS had trouble starting. Following the instructions in MS KB
article 224977 I deleted the "restore in progress" key and ran isinteg
-patch...and that got the IS started.

2. The PF's are in the same container as on the production server.

3. I've checked the event logs after running the DS/IS adjuster and it
doesn't mention the folder I need. That's sort of the problem....:-)

Thanks,
Sean

1. If this was a restore of an online backup, there is no reason to run
isinteg. 2. Were these PFs in a different container on the production
server? 3. Check the event logs after you ran the DS/IS adjuster. It should
list all the pfs it created.

Subject: Restoring a public folder

Hi All,
Here's the skinny:

Running Exch 5.5 SP4 on NT4 SP6.

A public folder was deleted, at the time there was no deleted items
retention time so I've gone to backup. On a non-production server I
redirected the restore of the information store (Backup Exec 8.6) and ran
isinteg -patch to get the IS started. The server has the same organization
and site names as my production server. The only difference is the name of
the server.

In Exchange I can see all public folders under Organization>Folders>Public
Folders, but can't access the properties of any of them. When I go to the
properties page of the Public Information Store in my site, and select the
Instances tab I see nearly all of my public folders. I've moved them all
over to "folders on this IS" and they are restored and happy. The problem
is, a handfull of folders including the folder I need are not listed in the
Instances of public folders. The error I get when I try to access the folder
is "object not found in directory. This may be because replication has not
completed". I ran the DS/IS consistency adjuster to see if that changed
anything but it didn't. The pub.edb file reads "consistant" when I ruan
eseutil /mh against it.

So, what would cause the public folder to show up in the
Organization>Folders>Public Folders tree but nowhere else? Why wouldn't
Organization>Folders>it
show up in Instances? And lastly are there any other tools I can use to
access the folder?

Thanks in advance.

Sean
