The 300KB figure is kinda weird to figure out. Here's the definition
I'm aware of.

It means that 300KB of different changes will be packed into a single
replication message. It does not mean to chop up a 900KB replication
message into 3 separate replication messages. So, if you were to post
40 x 10KB messages into a public folder, the store will pack 30 updates
into a single 300KB replication message. A second replication message
of 100KB would then be sent, since the remaining 10 x 10KB messages
would be packed into it. If, however, you posted a single 5MB message
into a public folder, the store will generate a single 5MB replication
message.

I did read somewhere that the 15 mins and 300KB figures were the
recommended for a 10MB LAN. Of course, for folders that have large
amounts of updates across slow links, you'd be better off changing these
individual folders to replicate out of hours, etc. There is no single
answer to your issue as far as I know; it's a case of analysing what use
you make of your folders, the data they contain, and the replicas that
exist. As always, there's a balance between how fresh data is against
the network impact.

Subject: Public Folder Replication

Right, just recovered from a strange situation with public folder
replication, where there was nearly 2 gig of messages trying to transfer
up and down the place (over ISDN lines :o). Anyway, just seeking some
advice as to what to use in the "Replication Interval" and the
"Replication Message Size Limit", does the size limit mean the total
message size of any message posted to the public folders or the size of
the replication messages which are broken down chunks of the message
that resides in the public folder?

Every 15 minutes and 300KB, which is the default, is this a reasonable
figure for these fields?
