Windows 2003 server includes a simple pop3/smtp server that you may have
installed. If it is running it will occupy the smtp port and possibly
prevent the exchange smtp service from starting up. Go to add/remove
programs and look in windows components and see if you see the mail server
in there (and uninstall it).

Subject: POP3 and IMAP4 Services wont start?

Have just installed Microsoft Exchange 2003 and can't get either POP3 or
IMAP4 services to start. Both are on automatic startup and when you try to
start them they both fail. Exchange is installed on a member server in our
domain. Any ideas?
