I'm trying to use Exmerge to clean out the Administrator inbox of many thousands of NDR's generated when we apparently had an account / password compromised and were being used by a spammer to relay garbage... (See my previous posts yesterday afternoon for my original cries for help...)
I'm running Exmerge directly on the Exchange server (Ex2k SP3).. Unfortunately Exmerge keeps dying after processing 20,000 or so messages (it's not a consistent number of messages) with the resulting PST always being between 160 -167 Mb... This means that I've been clearing the mailbox out and will have it cleaned up in a couple more runs, but I'm curious as to why this is happening... Exmerge just hangs and stops extracting messages with no error messages and nothing in the log files that gives me a clue as to why... I've tried Exmerge 6.0.6249 and 6.0.4440 with the same results from both... The version of Exmerge available for download from MS's site claims that it can only be run on an Exchange 2003 server or from a machine with the Exch2003 admin tools... Since I don't have either of those options available, the new version isn't something I can try right now... Has anyone experienced this problem before and know of a way to remedy the issue? Is there another version of Exmerge (prior to the Exmerge 2003 available on the MS site now) that will run?
