I think in some previous discussions we figured out that it applies to W2003
Standard Server.

The original poster does not say that he is using W2K3 -Enterprise
Edition- server -- does the /3GB switch apply to the standard version of
W2K3? The MSKB article cited below specifically says that it does not apply
to the standard versions of NT4 Server or W2K Server.

Additionally, E2K3 will complain in the eventlog (I believe Application) if
it detects that you have your memory configured wrongly on the machine... I
don't remember the event number or source though.

Wrong. You use that switch if you have more than 1gb of memory.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;328882
references that among others.

David,

My guess would be that you should be fine without it.

Only use that if you are using more than 2 GB of memory.

With E2K3 Enterprise on W2K3, using a gigabyte of memory, which side of the
/3gb switch does that fall? I've seen references to use it if you have
"over a gigabyte" and other references to "a gigabyte or more." I'm using
one gig of memory, trying to figure out if I need to run the switch or not.

Thanks,

David
