I'm sure Andrey will answer too, but if you enable circular logging, you WILL lose mail if you have to restore from backup. Circular logging should never be enabled on a mailbox server except for very limited circumstances and even then, for a limited amount of time. Whoever was teaching the Exchange 5.5 class was a moron and didn't understand transaction logging in Exchange.
