Hello,

Sounds similar to a problem another department on our Campus had. Maybe
there's a Q article on it by now. If not, you're going to want to call
PSS. Here's what the Admin of the other department had to say:

=====================
From: Ackerman, Greg

What he needs to do is break the ADC connection - stop the service.
Then go into AD and remove all the email attributes from all the users
(since he hasn't gone to 2003 yet). Then go into Exchange 5.5 in raw
mode
and remove the ADC Global Names attribute from all the users. If there
are
tons of users he can do this be a directory export/import.

Once the AD is clean and the 5.5 dir clean he can then go back to the
ADC
Tools wizard and reconnect the systems. Be sure the select the option
in
the ADC CA's to not delete automatically before reconnecting.
This will prevent the deleted mailbox scenario he just went through.
=======================

Brent

Conversation: 5.5 to 2K3 Migration Problem
Subject: 5.5 to 2K3 Migration Problem

About a month ago we had a failed migration attempt from Exchange 5.5 to
2003. All went well, but the public folders wouldn't replicate at all so
we had to roll back. We removed the 2003 server from the site and
performed the necessary steps to clean out AD, rebuilt the 5.5 server
(restored from a backup prior to the migration attempt) and all seemed
well. We are in the process of preparing for a second attempt (having
resolved the Public Folder issue) but have encountered a serious problem
- once the Active Directory Connections are created, all of the
mailboxes on the 5.5 server that existed at the time of the first
migration attempt are immediately deleted - 95% of our mailboxes!Any
mailboxes created after the "cleanup" are fine. Using ADSIEdit to
compare the objects of an "old" user and a "new" user reveal that the
new users have a valid value for their legacyExchangeDN property, the
old users have their legacyExchangeDN value set to ADCDisabledMailByADC.
Is this why the mailboxes are being deleted?
How do I get this resolved? Any help would be greatly appreciated
