You just need to go to the Advanced tab and then add Field/User/Proxy Addresses, Condition - Is Exactly, Value - "smtp:a*" (don't type the quotes) The example above will find all objects with SMTP address that starts with "a". Similarly looking for a proxy address that is exactly "smtp:jsmith*" will find all users whose smtp address starts with "jsmith". Also you don't have to use "Is Exactly" condition.
