I'm in the early stages of a migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 on a new server. I have moved a 2 live mailboxes, plus a few inactive mailboxes, totaling 2.5G in size, but the PRIV1.EDB has reached over 13G, and it is growing at an alarming rate (say, 500M/hour).
The abnormal growth started on Thursday. I have confirmed this by reviewing the size of Wednesday's NT Backup file - only 2G. So, what's changed?? Let see, I installed Scan Mail on Wednesday. After I discovered the problem, I stopped all services, but no change in the rate of growth. I started migrating public folders on Thursday AM - around 100 at a time, using the PFMigrate script. I have a total of 25G to migrate from my primary server, and I'm guessing it's about 1/2 way done. The pub1.edb is also growing at about the same rate as the priv1.edb even though it's several hours after I migrated the last batch of folders. Of course, now I've stopped moving everything. Just waiting for the stores to stop increasing - but they are not. I've reviewed the event log - no obvious errors. Any ideas what might cause this type of behavior? TIA.
