You just need to add the DTC resource to the cluster group. There isn't any need to configure it. If it doesn't complain about a dependency then don't worry about it. The DTC is actually only necessary to install Exchange. Once Exchange is installed it may be removed. I worked with a 5 node cluster where they removed it after the installation and it's working fine. However on other clusters I just left the resource in the cluster group.
On the 5 node cluster they had added it to one of the exchange groups and subsequently had problems with fail over. PSS told them they could remove it after installation of exchange and they did. I did a 3 node and 2 node clusters after that and by adding the DTC resourced to the cluster group (as documented) I didn't have any issues with fail over once the virtual servers were up and running. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Seitz, Peter Sent: Friday, May 14, 2004 9:50 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Exchange active/active/passive I'm trying to setup Exchange 2003 in a test environment in active/active/passive mode. One of the requirements of installing E2K3 is adding the MSDTC Group and Resource in Cluster Admin. When I create the resource, there are no dependencies listed such as the Physical Disk and the Network Name. I've also enabled DTC Network Access. Any thoughts on this?
