Hello everyone. I hope someone here could give me some ideas about this issue that I am having.
A few days ago my boss gave me a server that someone else had screwed up. The server is Windows 2000 Server with SP4 and latest hotfixes. They first noticed that something was wrong when they tried to setup MDAC 2.8 and it failed. After that the Add/Remove Programs control panel started showing a huge blank space with all the installed progams listed under the blank space. I figured out how to fix the huge blank space problem in Add/Remove programs. But I still can't install MDAC. Every time I try to install it, it fails in the middle (after clicking on the Finish button), rolls back and screws up the Add/Remove programs again. Then I tried to stick a Windows 2000 Server (with SP4) CD and to run winnt32.exe with option to "Upgrade to Windows 2000". That completed successfully, the server came up without any problems, all the settings and installed programs were preserved, and the Add/Remove Programs control panel applet looked good. I then tried to install MDAC 2.8 again. This time it gets to the point where I need to click on the Finish button and the setup is supposed to actually install all the components. I click on the Finish button and immediately get to the next screen that says "Setup cannot be completed because an error was encountered during setup". The dasetup.log doesn't show any errors. What would cause the MDAC setup to just stop like that? _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang=english To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
