Cached Mode won't be suitable over a 14.4 link ... you download a copy of your mailbox to the local hard drive, which could take quite some time.
I think your best solution would be to use the Remote Mail feature in Outlook which allows you to only download messages that fit certain criteria. -----Original Message----- From: Jean-Paul Natola [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, 21 May 2004 6:12 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Slow connection options Hie everyone, Yes this is a cross post but I'm looking for all posible feedback, As I'm nearing deployment of my exchange I have a concern with our field offices (Africa, DR, Bolivia, etc) , since there dial-ups are limited to 14.4, I was hoping to go with OWA so they would not have to download stuff they may not need, but I do believe that the 128bit browser are not available outside the US and CA , and for obvious reasons i want OWA connections to be secure. Has anyone come across a similar situation , if so how was it handled? any and all ideas are welcomed. One person suggested IMAP , which sounds better, but as I was reading the 03 guide I see that they now have Cahed Exchange Mode, Has anyone used it yet , any pro's or con's ? All thoughts comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=& lang=english To unsubscribe send a blank email to %%email.unsub%% Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
