Here's an odd one. It's not earth shattering or anything but we'd really
like to figure out why it's happening.
We have a simple environment. 1 Exchange 5.5 SP4 server running on top of a
NT4 SP6a box. We are still running under an NT4 domain at this time.
I have a user that got married a while ago (a year or two actually). We
changed her internal email address and added a second smtp address with her
married name and made it the default reply to address. When external folks
send an email to her unmarried smtp address it sometimes bounces on them.
(But not always) One of the other techs here was testing it and sent a
message from our mail server to her SMTP email address on the same server
and got the following message back.

I found it interesting that the To field does not have the technicians email
address but rather the email address that he was trying to send to. Today
the address works again and we can't find a reason for it. Also the relay
acces denied at the end of the error makes no sense to us. Yes we have
relaying turned off but this message shouldn't be relayed as it's going to
an internal user. Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated.
