Maybe this is the LDAP port 379 vs 389 issue? Your 2003 server is a DC, I
assume the only DC, so it is already using port 389. The SRS (mock Exchange
5.5 environment that the Ex2003 server creates in order to look like a 5.5
server) has to use port 379 in this case. So maybe if you point your
2003->5.5 ADC connector agreement to port 379 things would start flowing?
Just a thought. I have been out of Ex200x loop for a few months, I can't
remember everything off the top of my head, but something rings a bell.

Subject: ADC: E2K3 Mailbox-enabled Users Not Visible to Exchange 5.5 Server

Hello --

I have recently installed an Exchange 2003 Server into an Exchange site
heretofore consisting of a single Exchange 5.5 SP 4 server. Prior to this,
we upgraded our NT 4 domain to an Windows 2k3 AD domain. I followed the
Deployment Tools, installing the Active Directory Connector on a DC (NOT the
E2k3 server itself) prior to putting up the Exchange 2K3 server (as a
windows 2k3 member server) and setting up a Connection Agreement; all seemed
to go OK. I initially got no error messages, the Exchange data from the 5.5
server replicated into AD fine.

My problem is that while my E2k3 server and my 5.5 server "see" each other
within their respective admin gui's AND I can also create an account in AD
with a mailbox located on the E2k3 server and log into it via OUTLOOK 2k AND
see the GAL and public folders from 5.5 AND can send emails to 5.5
mailboxes, the 5.5 mailboxes receiving email from e2k3 cannot reply or send
them any email at -- the 5.5 server cannot resolve the e2k3 recipient(s).
Sure enough, my ADC reports that while the data from the 5.5 environment has
been duly replicated in AD, "not all" the AD information has been replicated
into 5.5. I know you have to wait some time for replication to finish, but I
only added 2 mailboxes on the e2k3 side and have waited a couple of hours,
verifying that replication has taken place in my activity log on the ADC
server without errors, and still, the e2k3 mailboxes are "invisible" to the
5.5 server.

Has anyone encountered this? If so, how did you resolve it? I have checked
mailbox attributes, permissions, etc., in my AD forest -- all appear to be
what they should. The MS Knowledgebase is NOT helpful on this topic. Any
indication of what to look at would be helpful.
