I have a test lab set up for my E2K3 migration. I've put in one E2K3 server
and one 5.5 server, migrated everything from the 5.5 to the E2K3, removed
the 5.5 server as per the MS docs. All went well.
Now I've added a second E2K3 server and want to remove the first one in
order to redeploy the hardware. I've followed almost all the steps in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822931&Product=exch2
003.
I'm not clear on something; it says to rehome the connectors; all I have is
one SMTP connector, but I don't see an obvious way to rehome it. I set the
bridgehead for it to the new server; is that all I have to do?
Also, it says to run setup and uninstall E2K3. In 5.5 it was acceptable
practice to shut down the services on the 5.5 box for a while and make sure
everything worked before removing the server. Is that the same in E2K3? I
hate doing something as permanent as an uninstall until I know it will work
OK without the server there, but I don't know what will happen if I shut
down the first E2K3 server. Uninstall is, I'm sure, cleaner for the org/AD;
I'd rather not end up with orphaned stuff in there.
Anyone done this yet?
