We use a Nortel VNP solution that relies on user Cached Network logon credentials to access Outlook over a VPN. We currently support two separate Exchange / AD environments
1) Ex 2k Windows 2k with users and mailboxes in the same Forest, user in this senairo do not get prompted by Outlook after establishing their VPN tunnel and accessing Email. 2) Two separate forest with trust; Ex 2003 forest / Windows 2003 forest with user accounts given mailbox rights and External associated account rights to the mailboxes in Ex03 forest. When the users are connected to the LAN accessing Exchange no Logon prompt. When they dail in / VPN the Outlook logon prompt occurs once and users log in with no further prompts. Any idea why the prompt and better yet how to avoid the prompt.
