check and make sure the logo we were using is a member of schema admin. also check out
KB 822583.

ForestPrep I get the message, Setup failed while installing sub-component
Microsoft Windows Active Directory schema update with error code 0xC103798A.
I check the logs but there are quite a few of them and one is 9 Megs!
