Power off,stop all the 5.5 exch services etc... Always a good idea before removing *any* server.

Before I take the plunge of removing SRS, can I power off the 5.5 server for a few days, say over a week to be sure I haven't missed anything? The 2nd stupid question, if I just remove SRS but leave the 2K3 in mixed mode would I be able to re-create the SRS to get stuff back. My hope is that if I missed anything I could just recreate it on the other side.
