That's Native mode Win2k3 or native mode Exchange that his can only occur
and I'm assuming that these are mail enabled USG's correct.

You create an ADC connection agreement to synchronise your 5.5 DLs into
Active Directory, where they become Universal Distribution Groups (the ADC
is hard-coded to do this). The Exchange store.exe process will then convert
them to USGs for you, but this can only occur in a native mode domain. In
other words, done correctly, it's all done for you. :)

Subject: Exchange 2003 Uneversial Security Groups and Exchange 5.5 DL's

Hey,

A question for those of you that have gone thru the migration from
Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003. We are planning to have a win2k3 native
domain and exchange 5.5/EX2k3 mixed mode. From what I've read in doing my
research for our migration is that when we migrate the Exchange 5.5 DL's
that we use for permissions on Public Folders that they are converted to
Universal Security Groups.
Are these mail enabled security groups or do I have to created another
Distribution group to replace the ones that we used for permissions and are
converted?

Thanks...

john
