Without a front-end, you will need to be able to connect your internet browser directly to the fully qualified domain name of either Exchange server (depending on where your mailbox resides)
If you happen to point to a wrong server, you will be automatically referred to the correct server (however you will not be proxied to it). -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Douglas A. Or would you need to have the users manually connect to there our OWA server? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ken Cornetet Sent: Friday, September 10, 2004 9:59 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: OWA wo/Front End & Multiple Server I assume you are talking about allowing OWA access from the Internet, right? If you don't have a front end, you will have to configure the firewall to allow access to both servers. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Douglas A. Jones Sent: Friday, September 10, 2004 8:38 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: OWA wo/Front End & Multiple Server I have a customer with 2 Exchange 2003 servers running on Windows 2003 Server. They don't want to have a front-end server. Is this possible? I was under the impression it was. The firewall only points to one of the servers from the outside, when on the other server (the 1 the firewall isn't pointed to) tries to connect they get a "Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer" error. Or do they need to have a front end server or do I have something setup wrong? They are still in the middle of the 5.5 upgrade do I need to wait for native for this to work? Thanks! -Doug Jones _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=& lang=english To unsubscribe send a blank email to %%email.unsub%% Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
