Two DCs, W2k fully patched. Exchange 5.5 running on DC1. Preparing to install exch 2003 on DC2 migrating 5.5 to exch 2k3. On DC2 the install of exch 2k3 proceeds to logon to exch 5.5 asking for password only no username, and no password works. ADC is installed and validated. The polcheck.log shows dc2 right found. dc1 right not found. KB 328662 does not help. Also KB 256000, the basicdc.log makes reference to ndts not ntds and I don't know where this reference comes from.
