Not exactly the path I would take to upgrade, but I would run the e2003
domainprep.

Subject: installing exchange2000 on an Exchange2003

Hi all,

1 Windows2003 AD forest,1 tree, multiple childdomains

I executed forestprep using exchange2003 CD, can a childdomain install an
exchange2000? or must it be exchange2003.

Assuming that it is possible to install the exchange2000 in the childdomain,
can I execute "exchange2003 domaiprep" or is it a must to execute
"exchange2000 domainprep"
Take in count the exchange2000 is a temporary server because I am planning
an in-place upgrade MSX55-->MSX2000--->MSX2003.

note: all the childdomains have exhcngae55 which belong to the same org,
each childdomain plans to create the exhcnage2003 by the join site method,
but some by doing the in-place upgrade.
thx
