I ran two WLBSed front-end Exchange 2000 OWA servers for 3 years without any
problems when I worked for a hosting provider (iNNERHOST). I am also
surprised that a ***Microsoft*** tech told you that something is wrong with
WLBS, since it is an MS technology and they usually don't badmouth it.

WLBS could be tricky depending on your network infrastructure. But when you
follow the rules and understand what you want to achieve, it works really
well. I just followed the Exchange hosting whitepapers when I first put it
together and it worked.

I also used WLBS on a battery of 4 front-end SMTP servers - that worked
great too.

Subject: Windows load balancing and OWA

Does anyone know of any specific problems with using Windows Load Balancing
for front end OWA servers. I recently had a Microsoft tech tell me that
there are "problems" with WLB and OWA and that he wouldn't recommend using
it. He could not tell me what the problems might be however. Just that when
they troubleshoot OWA problems, if WLBS is running, they turn it off and it
"helps fix the problem".
